At the end of the day, you have one person making the decision

Nothing great has ever been created by committee. Nothing. Every single point in history that changed countless lives, every piece of software we use to run our digital universe, everything comes down to the decision of one person: yes, or no.

In Silicon Valley, you have two duo's that changed the course of the net: Sergey Brin & Larry Page, and David Filo & Jerry Yang. Google and before them, Yahoo, did things that impacted the entire world. Their famous cofounders in both cases were two guys, single, in grad school at Stanford, and with a complimentary skill set.

Favorite quote about lions & gazelles

So a while ago I was reading "The World is Flat" which I never finished. However, despite only making it 2/3 of the way through the book, I did learn something. An African parable about lions & gazelles has stayed with me for more than a year since reading.

Every morning, in Africa, the gazalle wakes up
Knowing if it runs slower than the fastest lion, it will be eaten.

Every morning, in Africa, the lion awakes,
Knowing if it runs slower than the fastest gazelle, it will starve.

Every morning when the sun comes up,
It doest't matter if your a lion or a gazelle,

Wondir traffic in free fall: I wonder where it all went ;)

Years ago, when Wondir got acquired, I was thinking: When will FunAdvice get to that size?

Well, I just noticed in the quantcast stats that Wondir (according to them) gets about 10K visitors per month. So, they're 1% the size of FunAdvice today. That's just awesome.

Should you be able or unable to delete your account?

I just found out one of the many competitor's to my own company, FunAdvice, doesn't allow you to delete your account. Instead, when a member asked, they replied "you can adjust your contact settings so we don't email you anymore".

Now, is it just me, or does that smack of desperation to keep the number of registered users high? Thoughts?
