Believe it or not, you sell a lot of stuff, everyday. Sure, it's not all for money but that doesn't change the fact that you're selling.
Examples:
"You look so young"
(my hair is going more gray, daily, so, NO)
"You're still so slim, why are you worried about what you eat?"
(I've gained more than 16 pounds since I started working from home nearly 3 years ago. However, due to the stress of starting the business, I lost 14 pounds when we began, so my "swing" has been a grand total of 30 pounds...that's not good.)
"No, it's not spicy at all"
(Told to my friend when munching on some food. Yes, it was spicy, and yes, I was crying. However, it was sooo tasty, you would have cried, too.)
These are fairly obvious, no? So how about when you contact a company for something. Remember time = money. The more time you spend beating around a bush, the more time you could have spent on more fun pursuits, hanging with friends, family, or eating the aforementioned deliciously spicy and oh soo good food.
If you're selling, it's not always money you're after. Sometimes, it's a simple matter of getting to yes, agreement, concordance. Then moving on. The more time you spend on the journey, the less time you have to enjoy the arrival. Think about it.
